Luxury Aircraft Interiors
I absolutely love luxury aircraft. Private jets such as a Gulfstream or a Hawker are just amazingly beautiful airplanes. With so many different configurations and with an abundance of different fabrics, materials, styles and colors; viewing the custom interiors of these luxury airplanes is a sight to see.
There are so many television shows that showcase many different luxury items. MTV Cribs is one example. The concept of this show is to film the luxury homes of famous musicians. I don’t know of a televised show that offers a review of the interiors of luxury airplanes. I wish there was one, perhaps there is and I just haven’t heard of it.
I enjoy surfing the Internet and finding pictures of airplanes. My favorite shots are those of the interiors. In this article you will find some a real brilliant and outstanding photograph pulled from the Internet that showcase one of the most spectacular luxury aircraft interiors. I find that these photos are absolutely top notch and it’s obvious that they should be. Heck, some of these airplanes being bought and sold are worth millions of dollars!
2005 GULFSTREAM G550
The Gulfstream G550 is absolutely beautiful. Released into the market in 2003, the Gulfstream G550 has a range of 6,750 nautical miles and is proclaimed as being the longest range business jet in the world.
The photo above is a shot of the interior of the 2005 Gulfstream G50, serial #5097, N550GA. This airplane is currently listed for sale by Avjet Corporation, a worldwide leader in the private jet sales market. The photographer of this picture is unknown to me. Contact Andrew Bradley at Tel: 703-661-4848 or 201-320-3333 for more information regarding the photo as well as additional information regarding this plane for sale.
This luxury Gulfstream G550 sits 14 passengers in beautiful leather seating configuration and is equipped with a conference table, two lavatories, two coffee makers, a high temperature oven and microwave, a dish washer, china and crystal storage, a stainless steel sink, two ice compartments, a thermoelectric cooled food storage compartment, a thirty gallon pressurized water system, a hot water heater and air conditioning. This airplane also comes with Internet access, printer and fax machine.
The cabin video equipment include: Two DVD players, one 20 Inch LCD monitor, one 17 Inch LCD monitor, seven 7 Inch LCD monitors and three more smaller LCD monitors. Additionally there are two digital multi-system converters, two color touch screen remote controls, two RF remote controls and ten 115 volt AC electrical outlets. Also included in this configuration is a fuselage mount forward view camera, fuselage mount aft view camera and a tail mounted camera.
The passenger audio systems include: Ten mid range speakers, four subwoofer speakers, seven pages system speakers, 16 stereo headphone jacks and headphones and one CD player.
Price Tag: $60,000,000 USD That’s right! If you want to fly in one of the most luxurious airplanes available today, you’re going to have to shell out a little bit of cash. The annual cost to maintain this airplane is around $600,000 USD. In fact, the average cost to fly this bird is around $2,300 dollars per hour. it will cost you around $1,000,000 dollars to have an engine rebuilt. New paint will cost you in the ball park of $200,000. I hope you like the interior, if not, you’re looking at spending $300,000 to have it refitted.

1971 Cessna 210 For Sale
Boca National Aircraft, located in Boca Raton Florida, has a 1971 Cessna 210 for sale. Boca National Aircraft is owned by Joe Orzeck. Joe and staff have been in the aircraft sales business, each having over 25 years of experience. As mentioned on their website, “Our support staff is well versed in all aspects of buying and selling” to me it would seem that Boca National is capable of fulfilling my needs equally as well as any other aircraft sales company out there. Operating their aircraft sales business out of Boca Raton Florida, Joe and company are no strangers to sunny skies and excellent warm weather.
Looking at their inventory on The Controller, I can quickly see that they have many planes available for purchase ranging from single engine aircraft to jets. In addition to having plenty of inventory available to choose from, Joe Orzeck and staff also offer an aircraft brokerage service for premium quality, high performance turbine and piston aircraft.
The Cessna 210 up for sale is a 1971 Cessna 210, S/N 21059491, N5791J. The airplane has a total time on the airframe of 4500 hours.
Installed is a 3 bladed prop by Palm Beach Propeller having 1029 SPOH.

Palm Beach Propeller began servicing the Gold Coast in July of 1982 as a family-owned company. Since that time PBAPI has provided unparalleled services to aircraft owners, FBOs, and repair centers worldwide.
Avionics and radios include the King KFC 200 Auto Pilot/Flight Director System and the Apollo 618 Loran (coupled to autopilot) complete list of avionics and radios listed in full specs below.
The exterior of the airplane is an overall white with very trendy bright yellow and orange accent stripes. I really do like this color. It is obvious that paint is in good condition. You can see such a brilliant luster and shine. I think the choice of colors is very sporty and cosmetically appealing.
The interior of this Cessna 210 doesn’t lack in quality either. This airplane has a Carmel leather with fabric inserts coupled with matching darker brown carpeting. The seats and the cabin area look very comfortable. In my opinion, usually Cessna 210s of this age typically lack in the interior department. Overall this bird appears to have just as good quality interior as the exterior. Very nice, I really like it.
This airplane has zero damage history and it is apparent that this airplane has always been hangered. Reviewing airplanes for sale, typically the term, “Always Hangered” tends to get abused, but in the case of this 1971 Cessna 210, I really believe that to be true. This airplane overall is very pretty and appears to have had all the proper upkeep and maintenance.
Overall, if you’re looking for a beautiful Cessna 210 to purchase, you might want to consider this one. You’ll have to contact Joe Orzeck for pricing information and to schedule a viewing. Joe can be reached at Tel: 561-998-8044.

Irish Air Traffic Controllers Go On Strike
So what happens to all the airplanes in the sky and on the ground when air traffic controllers decide to go on strike? According to the Irish Aviation Authority, disruption and delays occur.
The IAA said that there are staffing shortages and their current air traffic controllers are over worked. My guess is that they are probably under paid. IAA reports that they are refusing to work overtime hours to accommodate Aer Lingus, Aer Arann and Ryanair airlines. The strike and refusal to work affects flights in and out of Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports.
From a passenger perspective, it would seem to be a stressful time to fly. I would be angered by the delays, but most importantly, I would question my own safety in the air.
ATC has a stressful enough job as it is. As a passenger the thought flying during a time when ATC is stressed, overworked and possibly disgruntle makes me nervous.
According to an article found on Ireland.com, “Further talks are scheduled to take place at the Labour Relations Commission next Tuesday between the IAA and the Impact union, which represents the air traffic controllers.”
That is all fine and dandy, but in my opinion this isn’t very good press for IAA. To me, I would expect stability from ATC and putting my life in the hands of a stressed out and overworked controller is something I am just not very comfortable with.

FAA orders JFK Airport to limit scheduled operations
As of March 30, 2008, JFK International Airport will begin limiting their scheduled operations. The FAA issued the order on January 15, 2008 due to the number of flights that are over capacity during their peak operating hours. They are hoping that this order will help in decreasing delays and increase efficiency.
According to acting administrator, Robert A. Sturgell, afternoon and evening arrivals are down to about 62%, which is 6.5% lower than last year. Passengers are finding it harder to get to their destinations on time, and it could cause problems throughout the United States if something isn’t done about the problem soon.
Once the order goes into effect, it should bring arrival times back to a percentage rate that will in essence, affect airspace across the country. The order will go into effect at 6:00 am, EST on March 30 of this year and will last until October 24, 2009.

Av8rdan’s World of Flying
Finding great aviation related blogs is sometimes hard to come by. Checking search engines like Google and Yahoo mostly return various AP articles related to events in the industry, so it can be kind of challenging finding other aviation related blogs to link up to. Doing a search today, I discovered a blog called Av8rdan’s World of Flying.
The blog is run by a very skilled aviation writer and pilot, Dan Pimentel. At the Av8rdan’s World of flying you’ll find daily posts on general and business aviation and much more.

The blog has been online since December of 2005 and is growing strong. On the blog you will find tons of very useful links, references and information that help you learn more about general aviation and business.

One of the things I enjoy most about Dan’s blog is his photo gallery. I am a sucker for viewing and admiring high quality photos and this gallery has a lot of brilliant, beautiful and colorful photos. A very nice collection I must say.
All in all, if you love aviation and enjoy airplanes, this is a blog that you will not want to pass up. It is obvious that Dan works very hard on his blog and I am sure that he would love to have new readers. Take a moment to visit Av8rdan’s World of Flying and be sure to subscribe to his RSS feed to that you will never miss a beat.

Spain’s Air Europa to go for Boeing’s Dreamliner
It has finally been confirmed that Spain´s Air Europa has ordered 8 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The aircraft are scheduled to be handed over to the Spanish airline in 2010 / 2012. By ordering Boeing’s last and most modern aircraft, Air Europa will be one of the first European airlines operating the airplane.
This purchase was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, on January 22nd 2008, by both Boeing and Air Europa. But things didn’t look the same two years ago. In fact, Airbus confirmed in 2006 that the Spanish airline had ordered 10 new A350-800´s, Airbus’s newest airplane (yes, newer than the A380) and counter part of Boeing’s Dreamliner. This same purchase was confirmed two years earlier, in 2004, by ‘El Mundo’, one of Spain’s leading news papers. It surely looked like Air Europa was keen on buying 10 A350´s.
What was it then that made the airline change its mind? Why did Air Europa decided that it was better to purchase 8 Boeing 787´s instead of 10 A350-800´s? That’s what we’re trying to deal with here. Both aircraft are very similar. They both belong to a new generation of environment friendly airplanes based on a more efficient fuel consumption rate and new composite materials. They’re both long range, mid sized airplanes with a wide body designed for long haul flights.
Excellent performance
María José Hidalgo, managing director of Air Europa, recently explained why the Spanish carrier had decided to buy the American planes. Keeping in mind that Air Europa is trying to compete directly with Iberia (Spain’s biggest air line) on it’s transatlantic routes to South America, Hidalgo explained that the Dreamliner was the best option the carrier had. It offered an excellent performance with a great fuel efficiency rate, an outstanding environmental performance and it offered an unprecedented comfort to the passengers.
Whereas the A350 is also an extremely modern aircraft designed to operate under new aeronautic concepts, it belongs to a different family of airplanes, it belongs to the Airbus family. Air Europa´s fleet is made up of different kinds of aircraft, but most of them are Boeing aircraft. The Spanish carrier’s fleet, as of January 2008, includes 33 Boeing 737-800´s, 4 767-300´s and 3 A330´s. Boeing is surely in good business with Air Europa, and this might be a good reason to explain why the order of 10 A350´s was finally cancelled.
Boeing vs. Airbus
With the 787 Dreamliner project, Boeing is probably trying to obtain a higher level of sales. Airbus’s twin engine A330 has proven itself to be a serious competitor to Boeing’s 767 and 777. It outsold the 767 by 24 to 9 in 2004. But once the Dreamliner project was in the air, a lot of airlines pushed Airbus to provide a competitor, since Boeing was claiming that it’s new airplane would be 20% more fuel-efficient. Although the European aircraft manufacturer initially claimed that Boeing’s Dreamliner didn’t pose a threat at all, it soon became clear that the A350 was it’s answer to the 787.
The truth is that Airbus has abandoned the A350 project due to severe critics that, funny enough, came from airlines which mainly operate Airbus aircraft. What they were saying was that the A350 was in fact an answer to Boeing’s 787. Such airlines were discouraged by the fact that Airbus’s design was way too similar to Boeing’s one. As a reaction to these claims, the European aircraft manufacturer cancelled it’s design and started working on the A350 XWB, which stands for ‘Extra Wide Body’, an airplane capable of fitting 9 passengers in a row in economy class.
All of this didn’t do any good to Airbus, and it might be another reason to explain why Air Europa finally ordered the Dreamliners.
Airbus-Boeing, Boeing-Airbus, the all-present dilemma among airplane lovers. Air Europa´s fleet will be greatly updated with the new 787´s, but it would’ve also been updated with the A350. Which one is better? I’ll leave that up to the readers.
