Barrel Rolling A Cessna
Check out this 30 second video clip of a pilot barrel rolling is Cessna. He might be new at doing this, because he seems really excited to do it and even more excited after he pulled it off. I am not sure of the risks involved with barrel rolling your Cessna, but it does look fun!

August 10th, 2007 at 9:50 pmOk, it is official. That guy is crazy.
Why would someone do this in a non-aerobatic airplane?
Did you see the baron crash just recently from pulling this kind of junk in a twin?

August 10th, 2007 at 10:08 pmHey Jess,
I am not a pilot, but I have always thought that you weren’t supposed to fly a Cessna like that…

has another video of the same. Fun to watch, but I can see how this could create controversy… its one thing for the pilot to risk his life, but I guess many could say that its not fair that he risks the lives of the people below him on the ground.

August 11th, 2007 at 7:59 amIf the airplane has insurance, and accident hurts all of us.
Having said that, if the pilot knows how to do it properly it is a perfectly safe maneuver.
Probably the thing that scares me the most about a video like this is seeing that a few of them mention the airplane being a rental. I fly rentals. Did the previous pilot overstress the airplane doing something like this badly?
Anyway, these are fun videos to watch.
Have you seen the bob hoover engine out video?

December 3rd, 2007 at 1:04 pmI agree. It’s a shame some people think it’s ok to do that in rental. I rent and the last thing I want is some hotshot out doing something like that right before I take the plane up with my family.
