DHL Replacing Old Boeing 727 Fleet With Boeing 757
Amazingly, I had no idea that DHL owned Boeing 727’s in their fleet. Those are really old airplanes but as it seems must be very dependable airplanes. In a news report I read from BangKokPost.com I discovered that DHL will be replacing their fleet of Boeing 727’s and replacing them with Boeing 757’s.
As part of the strategies, DHL plans to replace approximately 90% of its air fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft by then. The company has begun to replace its older Boeing 727 planes with newer aircraft such as Boeing 757 freighters, which consume 20% less energy per tonne transported and run 77% more quietly.
So, what will happen to the Boeing 727’s? Will there be an increase in Boeing 727 aircraft for sale? For those that don’t know, Boeing 727’s convert very nicely into private jets.
One of the more stunning Boeing 727 conversions is the 1967 Boeing 727-100 Executive for sale. This airplane just completed a heavy work package reaching almost $3 million dollars.

You’d never guess that this was a picture of the interior of a 1967 Boeing 727 would you? This particular airplanes has a gorgeous high level VIP interior with freshly refinished woodworking.
While it is great news financially for DHL to have the option of upgrading to newer Boeing 757’s, it too will be great to see some of these older Boeing 727’s get sold and possibly converted into something really cool, if that remains to be an option of course.
